We would like to introduce ourselves to you. We are Noel and Susan Bamber and we are the owners of Bamber House. We have three children, Douglas, Christopher and Rebecca. We are actively involved in the running of the hostel albeit mainly behind the scene. Noel is a pilot with Air New Zealand while Susan is trained as a pharmacist but now works doing administration work for Bamber House.

We bought Bamber House in July 1999 after falling in love with the house intending to live there ourselves and have a few guests.

We lived in the house itself for 18 months but our initial plans were spoilt by the popularity of the hostel as we found ourselves sleeping on mattresses on the floor in our living room most of one summer hence the new house next door. Since then we have painted just about every surface in the house at least once as well as replacing just about every item of furniture. We aim to be one of the best hostels in Auckland and take pride in our business.

If you there is anything you would like to talk to us about we welcome your comments.We recommend that you take the time to go up Mt Eden either by car or walking (it is only about 20 minutes to the top walking). The views are great, the crater and remnants of Maori occupation of the area are also interesting. For coffee and light meals we highly recommend Frasers Café in Mt.Eden Village (there is a good chance you will find us there) or at any of the other great cafés and restaurants in Mt. Eden Village.
